The lady I help usually keeps the tv running the entire time I am there. It is the time of year when commercials for and against politicians are frequently aired. It's annoying, and it makes me not want to vote for any of the politicians "advertised". I never understood the mud-slinging. If you have to make someone else look bad to make me vote for you, what are you hiding?
I did get a good laugh from them the other day, though. There were back to back commercials for a particular candidate. One was for her and the next was against her. She unfortunately put the "I'm ____, and I approve this message" right at the end of the commercial when the screen was blank. The next commercial promptly began, and it sounded like she was approving the fact that she wasn't worth voting for! Maybe if they were all that honest, we would have more success with the laws created.
I'm Linnie Sue, and I approve this message.

Remember when?
Remember when it was considered cool to wear fanny packs? I don't. I think that was before my time.
I learned something new on Friday. It was cow elk season this weekend, and so Cameron intended to go hunting most of the day on Saturday. (That isn't the new thing I learned.) Friday night, he wanted to go shopping for a new fanny pack. I had no idea that the general population still used them, much less paid good money for them.
This fanny pack cost $44.99. I have never even paid that much for a stylish purse, much less a FANNY PACK. (Cameron didn't either. He found a cheap backpack that suited his needs.) Apparently, they are a staple for hunters.
Will wonders never cease?

A Song
This song has made me peaceful and made me cry. I hope it helps you a little bit today.
He sees the sparrow fall to the ground,
And His eyes grow misty as He reaches down.
Gently He lifts it from somewhere below,
He touches and heals it,
And then lets it go.
How much more does my Father on high
Care when I'm burdened, care when I cry?
Sometimes I forget that He knows my sorrow,
But then I rejoice when I remember the sparrow.
Why should I covet Earth's treasures today?
In the space of a heartbeat, they all pass away.
Why should I carry this burden of doubt?
I'll give it to Jesus and He'll work it out.
Have a great Friday and a blessed weekend!
He sees the sparrow fall to the ground,
And His eyes grow misty as He reaches down.
Gently He lifts it from somewhere below,
He touches and heals it,
And then lets it go.
How much more does my Father on high

Ladies Day
I officially dub today "Ladies Day". Why? Because I am a lady, I like making things official, and I had a fun time with other ladies today.
Things of note from my day:
1. I like to be the first person off of the line when lights turn green and I'm at the front. Today, a grandpa from Michigan not only beat me off of the line, he squealed his tires doing so. Apparently, I'm not the only one with driving complexes. (I like to go fast, I like to be first, and I really like to pass people.)
2. I have a terrible time getting going. I was late meeting the other ladies. I have got to do something about being late so often.
3. I saw the funniest invention that I have seen in quite some time today in a Hallmark store. See below.

Newlywed Decorating
When we were driving back from Canada, somehow the topic of decorating the homes of newly married couples came up. I began sharing some of the activities that we used to engage in while couples were gone on their honeymoons. The reactions were quite varied according to the age of the listener.
It was tradition back home to decorate the home of the newlyweds while they were gone. By decorate, I don't mean pictures on the wall. We were mean. I was reminded that this wasn't following the Golden Rule. There was a new rule for these activities, however. "Do unto others because you know it is going to be done unto you."
Some of the decorating ideas that I remember were:
1. Fill bathtub with balloons. Make the bottom layer water balloons. The popper will appreciate the shower.
2. Replace soap with Karo Syrup. That antibacterial stuff doesn't clean your hands anyway.
3. Tape the handle of the sprayer at the kitchen sink. Another shower.
4. Remove the labels on cans in the pantry. Replace them with different labels. "Honey, dinner is going to be a surprise again tonight!"
5. Scatter poker chips all over the carpet. The bending and stretching as they pick up each chip will make them appreciate your mad decorating skills.
There were many, many more ways in which we contributed to newlywed bliss. Confetti on fan blades, short-sheeting the bed, basting closed the holes on clothes, etc.
Is anyone still wondering why I moved out of state?

Tuesday
Do you ever have mornings where you just can't get moving? That is what this morning is for me. I'm groggy and lethargic. Thanks for letting me share that with you.
Yesterday, I went to Canada for their Thanksgiving. My friend Sherry and JP invited me. It was so much fun. I rode up there with 3 other ladies, 1 small child, and 1 10 week old Shitzu (or however you spell that). We laughed and talked the whole way there and the whole way back. We got to eat lots of good food, too.
The windows are all closed in my house, and I'm still freezing my tookus off. We have the heater set on 55 degrees. Maybe it's time to turn it up a smidgen. The good news is that the ash aphids tookuses are all frozen. I haven't seen any in a couple of days. Not that I really was inspecting their hind-most portions.
I'm sorry, I don't have much inspiring to say today. Tomorrow, I will share tips for how to decorate the homes of newly married couples. We talked about it yesterday. We laughed. Tomorrow I will share.

Birthdays...
Something I have been wondering about...
On your birthday, are you celebrating the fact that you made it through another year, or celebrating the fact that a new year is beginning? Or, is it just a great time for me to let myself be selfish and have a day that is all about me? Any thoughts?
Longer post tomorrow...
